EARLY VOTING IN TEXAS HAS BEGUN!

Early voting in Texas started yesterday, and Austin is already getting out and getting it done! Not only do we have a record 97% of Travis County voters registered this year, but Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir reports that 35,873 of you voted on the first day! That is truly impressive, Austin!

Early voting continues for three more weeks, through October 30. There are 37 vote centers across Travis County, and the county clerk makes it easy to find the location nearest you and watch their wait times.

Be sure to prepare yourself before heading to the voting center. There’s a lot to consider on the ballot, in addition to picking your preferred President. Local political choices are just as important, if not more so! The League of Women Voters features one of our favorite resources, vote411.org, to help get ready to vote. Simply enter your address on the site, and they’ll give a list of what will be on your specific ballot, and a breakdown of the candidates themselves. Once you complete your selections, the site will generate a handy little cheat sheet you can print out to reference in the voting booth.

If you’ll be voting by mail, don’t delay! You’ll want to get it in the mail as soon as possible, as mail-in ballots must be postmarked by November 3 and received by November 4. If you’re able to, we recommend dropping it off yourself at the county clerk’s office at 5501 Airport Boulevard. Don’t take chances with your vote.

Whether in person or by mail, we recommend voting early, especially in this important and unparalleled year. Our community partners at Austin Public Library have a number of voting locations open during the early voting period and Election Day! Take a look!
